Fin-Aid - GOTR

Financial Aid

Beginning with the Fall 2021 season, Girls on the Run New Orleans has transitioned to a sliding fee scale based upon current annual household income. This change takes into consideration of COVID-19 pandemic-related hardships, enables families to pay what they can based on their current annual household income, and allows us to provide programming that is more equitable and accessible to all.

Programming fees are structured on a sliding scale of $0-$200 based upon household income. The scholarship approval process is included and granted immediatley in the online registration process.

Simply answer the scholarship questions during registration, and the system will adjust the fee accordingly.

Families who cannot afford the fee associated with their household income are encouraged to request a payment plan or financial assistance during registration. We will never turn a girl away due to her family’s inability to pay, because we truly believe that every girl can be empowered to do amazing things through our program.

My girl isn't a big runner; is this program for her? OR My girl is already a skilled runner. Is this program for her?

Yes! We are much more than a running program, and every participant can benefit from the experience of building confidence through accomplishment while participating in our in depth, curriculum-based, age-appropriate, interactive lessons. Expect lots of games, talking, laughing and processing in addition to running at each practice. And know that when we say run, we mean: run, walk, skip, roll or push, just as long as you are moving foward!

What does the program fee include?

Our program registration is a sliding scale of $0-$200 and based on household income to meet families where they are at. Families who cannot afford the fee associated with their household will be able to indicate the program fee that works best for them at the time or request a payment plan or financial assistance during registration. We will never turn a girl away due to their family’s inability to pay, because we truly believe that every girl can be empowered to do amazing things through our program.

Your program registration fee includes all lesson materials for 20 practices, including GOTR curriculum, activity sheets, lap counters and more, a GOTR t-shirt, a bib entry into the season-ending 5K, a finisher's medal, a GOTR water bottle and a healthy snack at every practice.

We can't afford the program registration fee, but our child would love to participate. How does the scholarship program work?

Don't let cost stop you from participating! We are committed to making Girls on the Run accessible to all who want to particpate! Thanks to generous donors and community supporters, program scholarships are available to any family who needs it, and we can also provide appropriate running shoes and attire if necessary. The online registration form will walk you through a few questions to find the fee that is right for your family based on a sliding scale. Please contact megan@gotrnola.org if you need any support or assistance during the registration process.

When does the 10-week season begin?

Practices will begin the week of September 12, 2022. The culminating event will be the 5K on Saturday, November 19. More information will be shared by the GOTR staff and by your girl's coaches once the season begins!

Do girls need to attend both days each week in order to register?

Yes! Since most of our teams fill up quickly, if your girl will be unable to attend all the sessions, please save room for a girl who can, and consider joining us in a future season when she can enjoy the entire program.

I do not see my girl's school programming this season, can they still be a part of Girls on the Run?

Absolutely! Each season, we offer multiple community site teams where any girl from any school in grades 3rd-5th grade may join. Check back soon for a list of this season's community sites!

Contact our Program Director, Megan, at megan@gotrnola.org if you would like to start a team in your area! Head to the Start A Team page for more information.

Is there a way for me to sponsor a participant for a season?

Yes! As a mission-driven 501(c)3, Girls on the Run relies on generous donors in order to provide more than $30,000 in program scholarships for families in need. Click here to sponsor a participant this season.
